History of the College

Sri Ram Sahai Singh enkindled the flame of learning in Sultanpur as the first president of the college and Sri Narsingh Pal struggled as the Manager of the College and consequently made the light of knowledge spread in remote countryside. Presently the college is celebrating its 41st year under the prudent guidance of Advocate Sri Sanjay Singh as President and Sri Bajrang Bahadur Singh as Manager.

Rana Pratap Post Graduate College is situated at the heart of the town Sultanpur. River Gomati flows in its northern side. It is telling the tale of incessant stream of learning. P.W.D. Inspection House is in the vicinity of our college. Railway Station and Bus stop are also not farther from here. It is neither near nor far from the sound and fury of the urban area. Tranquil and verdant atmosphere of the college fetches up the ambition of Stephen leacock for quiet college. Learning and not the booming is identity of our college.

"VIDYA PAURUSHAM TAT- CHA RASHTRIYA SWABHIMANAH" is the motto of the college. We try to unify the Power with 'learning' that intensifies the National Self- regard. Learned teachers and learning students make a college, not the brick and stone is the maxim of us.

Rana Pratap Post Graduate College is named after the glory of our nation Mewar Keshari Maharana Pratap. The purpose behind it is that the students here must develop patriotic feeling. With the mission of imparting good education and making self-reliant citizen, the institution is advancing towards its goal. 
Institution is growing to its fullness embracing all the branches of studies. Disciplines of Science, Commerce, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences constitute an academic platform for aspirant students and learned teachers. Students not only from the town but from the distant villages of the district and neighbouring districts are persuing their degree courses in different subjects of arts at U.G. and P.G. level, Maths and Bio graoups of science and all papers of commerce at U.G. level with some inter disciplinary options like Defence Studies and Mathematics. Affiliation papers of Home Science at U.G. level, Commerce at P.G. level and PGDCA have been moved to Dr R.M.L.Awadh University, Faizabad for approval. It is a step further towards the mission of the institution. URRTOU study centre in the college provide facility of Add-on courses to the students and gives them opportunity to persue many other degree and diploma courses.
